Apparently my grandmother's parents along with my mom's parents are actually Chinese… which means they came from China and yes… my ancestors are from China. However, due to circumstances, they went to Cambodia and Vietnam and yeah… my dad said that they took the ethnicity of where they're born. But I wanted to tell him that the place you are born is what you call "nationality". I wanted to know our "ethnicity" (physical features to a race) and omfg…. since my parents were born in Cambodia/Vietnam, they took up the language and all this time, I thought myself to be Cambodian or Vietnamese. But I don't know… about my other great grandparents… maybe they were Vietnam or Cambodian?
Note to Self : Ethnicity is possibly a mix of Chinese, Cambodia, Vietnamese ancestry.
My dad has been talking to me about things that happened during his childhood though it'll be lengthy and tedious to type it all down here… My grandmother's life story is really sad… like damn… :((((
Boils down to >>> I have respect / more respect and acknowledgment for family members for all they've pulled through. I'm pretty proud to be born under people who has gone through a lot of shit yet has still made it today.
